The Association of Medical and Health Law Practitioners in Africa (AMHLPA) is a prolific, pan-African organization aimed at advancing the intersection of law, medicine, ethics, healthcare and Professionalism across the continent. Established to foster excellence, collaboration, and innovation, AMHLPA brings together seasoned legal professionals, experienced healthcare practitioners, policymakers, and vast scholars committed to entrenching the unique legal and ethical challenges in Africa’s healthcare systems.

Who we are
AMHLPA comprises a diverse network of lawyers, doctors, nurses, public health experts, academics, Lab scientist, pharmacist, radiographers, and policymakers united by a shared commitment to improving health outcomes through legal excellence. Our members span the African continent, bringing regional insights and expertise to address local and cross-border challenges.
What we do
Organize conferences, seminars, trainings, and webinars to share knowledge and best practices in medical and health law.
Provide a platform for dialogue on critical issues such as patient rights, medical negligence, bioethics, and health policy reform. Advocacy campaigns relating to medico- vigilance as regards health institutions across the various countries that make up the continent.
Advocate for legal and administrative reforms that protect vulnerable populations and ensure equitable healthcare access and globally acceptable delivery services.
Publish research, communiques, guidelines, and policy briefs to inform critical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
Offer organized mentorship and professional development opportunities for emerging practitioners in both medical and health law.
